This tour, “through the lakes and mountains”, starts in
the regional capital, Lyon, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and
lets you discover such gems as Lake Annecy and Lake Geneva, climbing
through the mountain landscapes to the roof of Europe.
DAY 1
For
the day of your arrival, you will take a tour of the Capital of Gaul by
coach and visit a workshop explaining the history of Lyon’s silkworks.
In the evening you will have dinner at a “Bouchon”, a typical Lyonnais restaurant that only serves local specialities.
DAY 2
You
will set out on foot with your guide to explore the Renaissance
district of Vieux Lyon (designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site). You
will discover the traboules (narrow passageways through buildings
leading from one street to another), the narrow cobblestone streets and
the churches.
Free time for lunch.
The afternoon will be
dedicated to exploring the Pierres Dorées (“Golden Stone”) area of the
Beaujolais region and its remarkable yellow ochre stone villages.
You
will participate in an oenology initiation workshop and then have
dinner in a gourmet restaurant.
DAY 3
Early departure to visit the little mediaeval town of Pérouges and discover its speciality: the “galette au sucre” (sugar cake).
Then on to Annecy, the little Venice of the Alps, where you will arrive for lunch.
You will take a cruise to discover the purest lake in Europe.
If you want, you can take time for a ride on the bike trail along the lake (optional).

DAY 4
After
a short visit to the market in the old town (Tues., Fri. or Sun.) or a
walk through the pedestrian streets, you will leave for Megève via the
Col des Aravis.
The stop for lunch on the road through the mountain pass is not to be missed for the breath-taking view.
Then you will head down to Megève. Depending
on the weather, you can take a tour by plane and fly over the roof of
Europe – Mont Blanc – and view the magical mountain landscapes.

DAY 5
Take the time to stroll around the typical streets of Megève with their charming luxury boutiques.
Then it’s off to Chamonix, a mountain city surrounded by remarkable glaciers.
Take
one of the highest aerial tramways in the world to the top of the
Aiguille du Midi and have lunch at the summit, at an altitude of 3,842 m
(12,605 feet).

Take the Montenvers rack railway and have lunch at one of the first hotel-restaurants with a view over the Mer de Glace.
DAY 6
Off to Lake Geneva, a veritable inland sea.
On the way, you will stop at the mediaeval village of Yvoire.
For lunch in this old fishing village, try THE local speciality: perch fillets.
Then on to Evian.
Guided
tour of the town, world famous for its mineral water. The tour will
take you through the town from the Middle Ages to the present, and along
the way you can drink “the water of the fountains”, the real Evian®
or (optional)
Spend a half-day enjoying the benefits of the thermal spring waters for a wellness break.
And at the evening, why not try your luck at the Casino?
