Lake Annecy, gastronomy & the region

Day 1

During this first day of your break you will have time to enjoy the town and the lake itself. To begin with, your guide will take you for a tour of the traditional market. Here, you will be able to taste a few local products. Then, you will go to meet a well-known master cheesemaker, and ‘Meilleur Ouvrier de France’, who will talk to you about his job, his passion... and, of course, about his cheeses!

After this, you will embark on the MS Libellule for a 2-hour lunch cruise “beyond the limits of time”, where you will be mesmerized by the ever-so stunning, ever-changing landscapes.

Back on dry land, how about getting on a bike or jumping on a Segway and going for a ride along the cycle lane that runs round the lakeside...

Your first day comes to an end in a celebrated village located on the lakeshore, Talloires. And what a way to end the day! You will find yourself in magical surroundings in a magnificent wine cellar where you will have the opportunity to taste some of the area’s finest wines, under the guidance of the head sommelier, Charly, before sitting down to a delicious dinner imagined by the in-house chef.

Day 2

Your second day begins by an invitation to breakfast with a World Champion Pastry Chef, where you will savour some of his homemade sweet delights.

Then you will leave the shores of Lake Annecy (with a myriad of wondrous panoramic views to marvel at on the way) and head for the Aravis, aka “Lake Annecy’s Mountains”. In a matter of minutes you will move away from a lakeside atmosphere and find yourself in the middle of the mountains. Although these Aravis villages and hamlets have undergone great development, they have, somehow, always managed to keep their authenticity and traditional architecture intact. You will discover the craftsmanship of a family-run cheese dairy and then enjoy some of their products during a tasting session! On for lunch where you will have the opportunity to savour some Savoyard specialities.

Back down to the shores of Lake Annecy and a visit to Saint-Jorioz where you are invited to take part in a cookery workshop in a fun-filled atmosphere. In this family house, you will learn loads of cookery tips and tricks before sitting down to enjoy the recipes you have prepared.

Day 3

This final day of your break takes you away from Lake Annecy and into Savoie. You will discover Chanaz, a small village located at the heart of the Chautagne area, just a stone’s throw from Lake Bourget, which is home to a host of crafts people. You will meet a coffee roaster, then a miller, who produces walnut and hazelnut oil. Then it’s time to embark on an electric paddle steamer for a trip along the Savières Canal.

After lunch, you will visit a well-known wine estate and have the opportunity to taste some of the estate’s own wine.
The day ends with a trip to the magnificent Hautecombe Abbey, overlooking Lake Bourget.
